Living as a Young Adult Volunteer

About Emma

For those who don’t know, my name is Emma Yoder. For the next year, I will be serving with Young Adult Volunteers, a volunteer organization run through Presbyterian Church USA, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As I embark on this yearlong adventure, I hope this blog can serve as a space for connection between myself and my communities so far away, and provide insight into my own journey as I step into a space that is not my own.

Some background about myself. I grew up Mennonite in the small rural town of Berlin, Ohio. After I graduated high school, I was ready for adventure in a new place, and opted to attend Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I graduated in May of 2020 with a Bachelors of Arts in History & Sociology. My experiences in each of these places and the wonderful people who have loved and supported me along the way shaped me into who I am today. I look forward to sharing my experiences with my communities despite the new distance that separates us.
